Waiting for Ask a Ninja to show

Sep 30, 2007

It's the last day of the convention & We are waiting for the Ask a Ninja team to provide the final speech.

The last conference the Ninja spoke at turned into a massacre. Ninja thought he had to just go there and 'kill' and that's exactly what he did.

532 Marketing VP's sent to learn about YouTube ad purchasing, all killed 10 years after they rapidly breezed through their prime...

New Media expo

I'm at the New Media expo in Ontario. This is also called the Podcast & New Media Expo, but I think the term podcast is going to get absorbed.

I've had a fun time here, met lots of friends from last year and made lots more.

I've seen some really cool stuff and some really bizarre stuff too!

Michael Vick Just Sucks and I might bail from his train wreck . . .

Sep 27, 2007

This spring I got a little bent out of shape when our local quarter back hero was revealed for being a dog torturing sadist.  At first, in the spring I thought there was potential that the story was blown out of proportion, but as the facts came in it became pretty clear that things were as bad as they seemed.

That got me a little annoyed

OK, It got me a lot annoyed

So I set up a website and a campaign to have Michael Vick Sacked from the NFL.

That turned out to be successful, but it appears that Michael Vick could actually be a lot worse than anyone ever suspected even a couple months ago.  Now, he has gotten in trouble with the quarters for testing positive for marijuana (not too big a deal if he weren't trying to show the courts that he shouldn't go to jail for a long time), plus he defaulted on a bank loan at the beginning of the month and now owes Canada over $2 million dollars(That's pretty stupid of him, considering he should have had tens of millions stashed away.)

But its possible that he is also involved in a murder related to the dog fighting (murder of a person not dogs).  I have a nasty suspicion that this story is going to get very very ugly, and Michael Vick may end up making OJ, look like a saint (old testament type).

So I am thinking about selling my site www.sackvick.net .  I do not think that I really want to follow this guy down into what ever hole he is taking himself.  I started the site to get experience with internet protesting and because I believed that it was an important (not the most important but important none the less) cause.

I've never sold a site before, so this will be a first for me if I go through with it.  Guess we will see how that goes . . .

My Credit Card Runneth Under

The joy and benefit of paying all your credit cards off is amazing. It also helps your credit a great deal and that makes you eligible for . . .

You guessed it, more great credit card offers!

The joy of receiving a credit card in the United Kingdom is that card holders receive many more protections and credit card offerings as compared to card holders in the United States.

As an example you can receive a clear credit card with a 11.9% APR from Co-operative bank credit cards. The great thing about this card is that you can make a purchase and pay no interest for up to 59 days after the date of purchase. Pay the balance off on day 58 and you pay no interest. That's a sweet deal, basically 2 months of free interest.

They also offer great deals on advantage cards, flat rate platinum credit cards and a platinum base rate tracker card that is pegged to the base rate for the Bank of England.

Now, as you know I'm heading to the Podcast and New Media Expo in t -12 hours. So I just loaded my card up with a few goodies for the show including a new mini dvd video recorder, a directional microphone, and some accessories including a bag and some mini dvd's.

I put those on my card, which I'll pay off in full before the end of my billing cycle, plus on my card I picked up a 1% cash back discount. Credit Cards are not easy to manage, but if you work very hard at it you can use them to good advantage and save more than if you pay cash.

The trick is working hard to stay on top of your credit card!

Its My Birthday! - Tomorrow

Sep 24, 2007

Got my first Birthday card in the mail today for my Birthday tomorrow.  Yours truly turns 25 (Plus X) tomorrow.    Seriously, that's 35, I don't really care about my age, other than the fact that its pretty difficult for me to remember what it is most of the time.

Check out the card I received from my parents.  I liked the part about

Brett_Bumeter_Alien_Birthday_card

MARTIANS INVADE BIRTHDAY PARTY
... AND WIN LIMBO CONTEST
"It's not fair!" says one party-goer.  "They're so short
and they're like putty with eyeballs.
Of course they won!"

Sounds like something I'd write.

Seriously, some of the other comments hit home too.  There are times when I feel that any year I spend without having to go to drug rehab due to family pushing me over the edge is a good year!

Here's to another Drug (Rehab) Free Year!

When the Campaign to Sack Michael Vick turned towards Murder

Many of you may know that I have a website titled The Campaign to Sack Michael Vick.  I started this website back in July when things started to heat up with the Michael Vick case surrounding illegal dog fighting, animal abuse, and dog torture.

I am a dog lover and wanted to do something to voice my outrage about what I was reading about in the news.  I wanted to channel that outrage into a positive and thus I set up a blog at SackVick.net and started sharing a number of insights as well as covering many of the reports about Michael Vick.  The positive was enabling people to find the dozens of petitions that were circulating in helping them to find a way to channel their outrage into something positive.

I also felt somewhat betrayed by the Falcons and the NFL for enabling this man to fund his cruelty.  As a fan and a person that buys the advertised products propped up by these people, I feel that my own money was used by extension to harm these dogs.  The Falcons are upset because they lost a valuable player, but they don't appreciate the damage they did by allowing this to happen.  They act upset from the perspective that they missed a chance to buy some key man insurance and protect their investment in Vick.

Did Michael Vick take a turn down OJ alley?

Last week I heard a story that started to change things for me.  I just returned from a soccer game in Catawba County North Carolina, a few miles away from where I live.  The local news was covering a murder investigation of a man that had been murdered in April.  The man was killed just a few days before Michael Vick's house was raided.  Like Michael Vick this man had about 30 pit bulls that were seized and euthanized.

Unlike Michael Vick, he was murdered in his home.

The big news however, was the fact the local sheriff was releasing information that showed that this murdered man had connections to Michael Vick and or his cohorts.

Now I'm not going to go into all the events that have surfaced in the last few days, you can see that at the other site.  What I want to talk about is the fact that this website is now taking a turn down a dark side, a dark side that I hadn't expected nor really wanted to explore.

In addition to trying to channel my energy into a positive, I was looking for a little practice running a protest site.  I wanted to practice so that I could do some things later on during the next election cycle and do them effectively.  I wasn't planning on getting involved in a site that might ultimately be one of those pinnacle sites for a case that might grow as dark if not darker than the OJ murder trial.

In for a penny, you better be ready for the pound

I'm not really a quitter when it comes to blogs, so I'm probably not going to sell the site nor my going to let it go dormant if there's a story there.  This is not the type of store that I thought I was getting involved in originally.  In this case the blog feels like it spiraling out of control into some dark corner and I don't really want to venture into.

I don't really have any ideas for how I might cope with this or deal with that, maybe I need to open up the site and pick up some additional writers that are interested in covering this type of thing.  Maybe I need to let sleeping dogs lie just ignore it.  I don't know, but if it does turn out that Michael Vick or some of his cohorts had this guy killed, things are going to really blow up next time around.

Who is in that Apple Nano iPod Video?

Sep 23, 2007

My wife keeps wondering who it is that sings this song every time the Apple video comes on for the new iPod Nano.

The girl that sings in this video goes by her last name Feist.  The song One Two Three Four.  She's from Nova Scotia and sounds a bit like Bjork.

Her full name is Leslie Feist.

Feist's single "1234" was featured in HBO's promos for its summer 2007 schedule. The song and its music video also featured in Apple's advertising campaign for its third generation iPod nano, which premiered on September 5, 2007. ~ Wikipedia

Fortune Cookies Fortunes not what they used to be

Sep 21, 2007

We picked up chinese food for dinner tonight.  It was for about 7 people, so it came in a big box with a brown bag full of fortune cookies.

So I was watching Letterman talk to Joe Biden (who seems to really hit on all 8 cylinders these days) eating fortune cookies and I noticed that these were some pretty stupid fortunes:

  1. Many Ideals are becoming Real
  2. The eyes believe themselves; the ears believe other people
  3. You will be advanced socially without any special effort
  4. You are the center of every group's attention
  5. You are deeply attached to your family and home
  6. An outstanding opportunity will soon present itself to you
  7. Get your mind set-confidence will lead you on
  8. Fortune cookie says; you will gain admiration from your peers
  9. You will be travelling and coming into a fortune

OK, not too bad, I'll get rich and my ego will become over inflated.  Then I started reading some more . . .

  1. Oedipus didn't have such a bad deal, what about you?
  2. You are soooo what you reap when you dress in sexy costumes
  3. The Young are not so restless, just young
  4. You will drink lots of caffeine and sleep like a baby
  5. Paradox is your friend, the exception to the rule is your enemy
  6. No flies on you, but mosquitoes are a different story
  7. Laugh and the whole world laughs with you, Snort ketchup through your nose and they are appalled
  8. A bird in the hand is likely to result in the flu
  9. 3 steps forward, turn left, 4 steps forward, turn right 1.5 steps backward, bend down and pick up a $100 bill

Quick Correction on Osama's Hacked Off Member

Sep 20, 2007

In our former article, we mis-spelled the headline writing the word "loose" instead of "lose".

Bin Laden did not 'loose' his member.  He did not set it free nor expose himself, this time, although the tail of Bin Laden and the 1997 Gay Bomb strike is rather funny.

He did lose his member as in lost, gone, hacked off, look what the cat dragged out the door and lost in the wadi.  We do apologize for the mix up in spelling and any visions of Osam Bin Laden terrorizing the world by exposing himself.

Worst Case of Compensation since Hitler

It can probably be argued that Bin Laden seems to enjoy one of the worst cases of small penis compensation since Hitler, hence his need to do dastardly . . . do.  When you have a piece that is as small as poor Bin Laden's little larvae, its unfortunate but no surprise that he'd have to compensate by attacking people with passenger jets just to get a chance at 72 virgins in heaven.  Stupid fool doesn't realize that the 72 virgins will laugh at his little larvae in heaven just as they already do on Earth.

Osama Bin Laden Looses a Penis

I just received this joke in the mail and thought I'd share.  Hopefully, it doesn't offend, but if it does, you are probably reading the wrong blog! (Note, Osama, if you come across this, SAYP - Sorry About Your Penis, but you did have it coming to you.)

Streaking-osama-bin-laden-no-penis

While trying to escape through Pakistan , Osama Bin Laden found a bottle
on the sand & picked it up.
Suddenly, a female Genie rose from the bottle and with a smile said,
"Master, may I grant you one wish?"
Osama responded, "You ignorant, unworthy Daughter-of-a-dog!
Don't you know who I am? I don't need any common woman giving me anything."
The shocked Genie said, "Please, I must grant you a wish or I will
be returned to that bottle forever."
Osama thought a moment, then grumbled about the impertinence of the
woman and said, "Very well, I want to awaken with three American
women in my bed in the morning. So just do it and be
off with you."
The annoyed Genie said, "So be it!" and disappeared.
The next morning Bin Laden woke up in bed with Lorena Bobbitt, Tonya
Harding, and Hillary Clinton at his side.
His penis was gone, his knees were broken, and he had no health insurance.

Slowly Upgrading Blogger Blogs

Sep 16, 2007

OK, I've been a little resistant to upgrade my blogger blogs.  I've been focusing on other things.  The old fashioned look on my aging blogger blogs is getting a little embarrassing and so I'm going to lightly upgrade them to something a little better or at least a little more fresh.

My apologies as I bring this up to speed, and especially if you don't recognize things as you breeze on through my life.

Regardless, don't sweat the small stuff, its just a blog change and not the passing of a loved one or the celebration surrounding birth announcements.  This is just a little small stuff to help push things along.

No One Reads My Articles About Wood Blinds Anymore :(

Looking forelornly through Wood Blinds but You are not there

For almost 2 years now I have been diligently writing for you my loved or beloved readers about a topic very dear to my heart, wood blinds.  Together we have covered the ups and downs of my thwarted window reflections, prevented by wood blinds.

Its been a long road, but I thought together we could continue to expound upon our budding and supple relationship together, a three way match made in decorator heaven including my magical and sometimes blinding prose, your gifted insight and ability to read between my blinds and the focus of our passions, the wood blinds themselves.

After all this time, however, I can now see through my wood blind metrics powered by Google analytics that you are no longer reading my boisterous wood blind pros, you are not reading between my blinds, you are not even opening up yourselves to share your own wood blind experiences in my comments.  I am left only to assume that you have found another to focus your attention and care, maybe you have worked your way down the blogosphere street to read about Amy's passion for faux wood blinds, or Cass's'es'es inspiration from bamboo, or maybe your blog reader cup runneth over as you fill up with tails of Elizabeth's Draperies.

I do not know the real answer.  I'll be honest, I do not care.  I just want you back.  I want us to be again what we were, happy, shaded, blinded in our love together for wood blinds, walking together hand in hand in the clouds of dust bunnies fluttering from the shades after a good spring cleaning.  Smiling together, staring into each other's eyes through the slits in our wood blinds, happy, forever.

Baconator Cheeses Up My Mouth

Sep 8, 2007

I am journeying from Atlanta to St Louis.

baconator I'm working with Dragon NaturallySpeaking Preferred 9, and I'm driving a Toyota Scion xB(sign on according to DNS 9 J ). I'm on Interstate 75 right now. I just picked up a Baconator (bacon Nader per DNS) from Wendy’s next to a long series of discount furniture stores , basically that's a half pound double cheeseburger with seven slices of bacon on it. I probably will have to run all weekend just to work that off and I do know if I can ever loose the cholesterol.

My cousin Casey is getting married this weekend and I'm on my way up to St. Louis for the wedding. After the wedding I'm going head to Peoria Illinois where I'm on a recruiting mission to go out and recruit thousands of bloggers. Specifically I'm going to be going from college to college hoping to convince college students to consider working as a paid intern running their own businesses Pro bloggers.

It's a great way for college students to figure out what they're interested in. Many times people go to college and they end up choosing a major without really exploring if they're interested in that major. I did it myself and changed my major three times starting with marketing and then changing to accounting and then changing to finance and then adding accounting back on as a double major.

People that write as bloggers have to explore a topic very thoroughly. It takes a great deal of passion to write about a subject on a daily or even a weekly basis.

So if college students especially freshmen, sophomores, or juniors (engineers per dns 9) take the time to blog about the topic that they're thinking about majoring in, they might find out whether or not they really have the passion for that subject. It's better to find that out as a freshman or sophomore than it is as a junior or senior but regardless it's important to figure out in college where your passions lie before you go out into the real world. As long as you're in college you still have an easy opportunity to change your major and possibly work in the field of your dreams.

I just finished my sandwich, and I think they named it wrong. That double pound cheeseburger had about as much cheese on it as it did half pound burger. I think they should have named it the super cheesy Baconator (bacon Nader – can’t train DNS9 and drive at the same time!). In fact I'm literally licking and scraping the excess cheese off the roof of my mouth and my teeth like a dog that has just been given a plate full of peanut butter.

I love cheese and this sandwich tastes great, but it's kind of a new sense having so much cheese stuck to my mouth while I'm trying to narrate this short little article.

Wall Sconce vs Poll Lighting

For years, for no apparent reason, I've had some of those Poll lights in my bedroom.  The type with 2-3 lights coming off a vertical poll.  The poll rests in a heavy base and the lights come off in multiple directions.

I've advanced through various different models and styles starting with early garage sale moving into post modern Big Lots, Efficiency Wal Mart, Faux Target and then later Pre Boca sets too expensive to put into print.

Well as we are going through this recent move, I've moved on.  The room we are staying in right now for corporate housing, has a sconce on the wall just above the head board for the bed.  Its great!

Never thought I'd get so excited about a wall sconce, but the truth is that anything that is more practical, functional or efficient usually trips my trigger.

Guess, I'll have to advance through the different styles of wall sconce next!.

The Bag that Disintegrates

I would have never guessed, but I seem to be the one person in the world that purchased Samsonite luggage and came up with a bag that is disintegrating.

I have this great laptop bag.  I bought the same exact model that a colleague had and its a great bag, but the vinyl on the shoulder strap is just peeling off.  Whenever I carry it, I end up finding little vinyl scrapings on my clothes in my hair (from lifting the strap over my head) and sometimes stuck to my fingers or face.

I guess if I grab the strap and then touch my face or something the vinyl transfers like dna on CSI.

csi-cast

Anyone know where I can find a replacement Samsonite Shoulder strap that is leather and not nylon with vinyl facing?

The Pen Goes Dry

So we were signing the half a mountain of paperwork for our new car yesterday and my wife and I were both pretty wiped out for no other reason than car shopping makes us tired.

notmy wifes hand We were trying to hold our heads up and the paper work seemed to be trickling our way like a glacier inches towards extinction.

I do not know what it was, but my wife's pen, one of those dealer advertising pens, kept running out of ink.

I had the same type of pen and had no problems, but she seemed to have the frozen ink touch.  Every pen she picked up went dead.  So she'd grab mine and ditto, same thing all over again.  I'd pick her old pen up and it would work just fine.

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if we had been informed that we were on some kind of bad reality show where they had a remote control that turned the pens off at the push of a button.

Give it time, some asinine producer will try it.

Real Estate Everywhere in South Carolina

My wife and I took a drive to South Carolina (going to CompUSA to get RAM and stuff) and I noticed that South Carolina must be the Real Estate Sign capital of the world.

Real Estate signs in the middle of no where South Carolina They put real estate signs every 200 feet along the highways, advertising communities and houses that are no where close nor in sight.

The real estate boom seems to be in full swing in South Carolina still.  Its not like the upside down world of California or Florida, but more on par with Scottsdale real estate.  Regardless I think they could benefit from a little self control (and zoning) because they probably kill as many trees with frivolous real estate signs as they do with actual houses!

Janet Evanovich Rocks

For those of you that are not familiar with my book review blog over at Story Addicts, I write book reviews.  They are full of spoilers and not intended to convince anyone to buy a book, but to discuss the books.

I just finished reading Janet Evanovich's latest Stephanie Plum book, Lean Mean Thirteen (via Audible and it was unabridged) and I thought it was one of her best since maybe the 4-6 books.  I was laughing out loud several times.

You know a book is funny when you have to hold the laughter in while you are in bed with a reading light on so that you don't wake up your wife.

I've been reading a few other books too, but I haven't gotten around to putting the latest reviews together.

I will, just not quite there yet.

Pack my Luggage Its a Road Trip!

Starting the middle of next week, I'm going on a road trip!

I mentioned that we picked up a second car (more on that later).  Next week, I'm traveling from North Carolina to Atlanta and then up to St Louis and to Peoria Illinois and back again.

I have to get my luggage packed, my plans finalized and my itinerary set.  More to come on the trip later, but its all for good reasons.

Going to round up some more business and financial opportunities for everyone!

If you are going to be in the St Louis area or Peoria area, maybe we can catch up soon.  Atlanta area folks, I still have a house there and hopefully can catch up with you sometime in the future.

Drop me an email if you are around!

Catching Up on things Least Important to most important

OK, I've been negligent of my blog yet again.  The last couple weeks have had me running around doing things that I usually only do every 4-5 years.  Last weekend, I was playing too much with a new cellular provider and new cell phones.

Verizon Wireless is the most expensive cellular carrier I've ever seen and about 4 times more expensive than my former carrier T-Mobile.  I wish I didn't have to switch, but I did.

So I got the phones taken care of and it only took about a week, which is just ridiculous.

Next up, we had to get ourselves a second car, and so I jumped from phone shopping to car shopping.

Just get a nail gun and start shooting at me, it would be less painful!

We wrapped up the car shopping yesterday and on Monday, I have to get a new license and insurance set up for North Carolina.

Not sure what will come next exactly (ok that's a fib, I do!) but it wouldn't surprise me if I had to go out shopping for executive desks next weekend!
