Virginia Beach Police Touch But Do Not Look at Abercrombie & Fitch Breast Images

Feb 4, 2008

Virginia Beach Police pulled one off this week, actually they pulled a pair off as they cited an Abercrombie & Fitch manager with obscenity misdemeanor charges and then removed the offending images of the typical Abercrombie & Fitch scantily clad model pictures.

The police issued the summons Saturday after Abercrombie management did not heed warnings to remove the images from the Lynnhaven Mall store after some customers complained, police spokesman Adam Bernstein said.

One photograph showed three shirtless young men, with one man's upper buttocks showing. The other image was of a woman whose breast was mostly exposed, authorities said.

City code makes it a crime to display "obscene materials in a business that is open to juveniles," Bernstein said.

The picture above is the only photo left on the Abercrombie & Fitch website that remotely shows a portion of a female breasticle.  However the image of the male youths is still proudly presented on the company website.

Female Clerks Still Engaging Customers to Take a Hands on Approach

Maybe more telling than the image that the company left up on their site (when they apparently took down the almost nipple bearing image of a young lady) is the tank tops that female clerks are still sporting at A & F in Virginia Beach.  Police didn't have any problem with these!

Maybe in real life these babies are not offensive.  Possibly Virginia Beach takes offense when the images are artistically rendered in Black and White.

What do you think, are these more obscene without color?

Hey, maybe its just me, but I don't see anything wrong at all.  Maybe the Virginia police just wanted to get the poster of the boys back to the jail house to keep the inmates happy this weekend and avoid paying out more life insurance claims on bailiffs and deputies since the big screen for the Super Bowl was Busted.

Now, personally, I do not like the state of Virginia.  I have quite a few friends that live there and I do not think its the people.  But I do believe that the police force in Virginia has a disproportionate percentage of power mongering fools.  Now, it would appear that they are disproportionately prudish as well.

I'd use stronger language, but this blog has grown into my nice blog lately.  My not so nice blog is elsewhere.
